Support Us

In addition to membership dues and ticket sales, our choir relies on donations to fund everything we do. This includes performances, community events, and providing our choristers with opportunities to grow as singers.

Gaywill Ambassadors Program

Please consider becoming a Gaywill Ambassador for the chorus. Through your sponsorship we are able to continue offering quality performances to you and to the wider community. The Ottawa Gay Men’s Chorus was established in 1986, making the second gay choir to be formed in Canada and the oldest such choir in Ontario. Please help us to stay strong and to grow.

Other Ways to Get Involved

  • seeking sponsorships and donations
  • promotions, marketing and social media
  • and more…

Why Donate?

Since 1986, Le Chœur Gai d’Ottawa Gay Men’s Chorus has provided a community space where queer identities can be celebrated through artistic expression and choral excellence. Such spaces are needed now more than ever, as the voices of anti-LGBT hate groups grow louder and 2SLGBTQ+ spaces become harder to find.

As a 2021 study commissioned by the International Centre for Community Music demonstrates, queer choirs like CGOGMC provide numerous benefits for their members, including:

  • A significant positive effect on personal and social wellbeing.
  • An intergenerational hub for social connection with people from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • An inclusive and judgement-free zone for the expression and exploration of queer identities.
  • And an opportunity to express moments of queer joy in a fun and artistic way.

This study also notes how queer choirs help to foster the growth of 2SLGBTQ+ communities within towns and cities.

Your donations not only help the chorus achieve its mission but also help better the quality of life of the choristers, our friends and families, and our community.

Become a Sponsor

If you have a business and would like to join our list of corporate sponsors, please reach out to us by email. Sponsors are prominently displayed on our posters and in our show programs. We also provide advertisement space in our programs for 2SLGBTQ+ friendly businesses within the National Capital region.

Donate Today

Your financial gifts assist with the operations and administration expenses of the chorus, help subsidize members’ fees, and help the chorus attend national and international 2SLGBTQ+ choral festivals to represent Ottawa and Canada. Please click on the Canada Helps logo to make a donation.

CGOGMC is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency (#890551344RR0001), and we can issue tax deductible receipts.
