We are deeply saddened to say a final farewell to Laurentin who passed away this week. Laurentin sang with us for the past fifteen years and helped elevate our Choir in many ways, not only by being a true basso profondo, but also in editing and translating French for the Choir, helping interpret music, imparting his knowledge to his fellow choristers, and welcoming new members with kindness, encouragement, and a warm smile. He also arranged music, including a spectacular piece that CGOGMC performed with Laurentin in the spring of 2022 as a surprise 50th anniversary gift for René -- his partner in life -- Bachinanas Brasileiras no. 5.

Joining us in September 2009, when asked last year « Pourquoi avez-vous adhéré au CGOGCM ? »

And when asked about his « Faits amusants » Laurentin wrote: « Mon premier concert CGO : j'ai 70 ans, ouvertement en couple depuis 37 ans, et j'ai l'impression de faire mon coming out ! Thank you, guys ! »

We offer our deepest condolences to René, his friends and family, and Laurentin's friends and family.
